Making profits marketing on the Internet is ALL ABOUT TRAFFIC!

While co-leading an Internet Marketing Seminar for “off-line” business a few weeks ago, my partner pulled out this formula for determining how to get a specific income from your web business. (I think he pulled it from some old Cory Rudl courses he took several years ago). While the formula may be “old” the concept still applies today.

Formula for determining how much traffic you need, this also focuses in on “unique visitors”.

Unique Visitors Required =

(Annual Income / 365)

Divide by

(Gross Profit Per Sale x Visitor to Sale Conversion Ratio)

Example:

Let’s say I want an Annual Income of $30,000.00 / 365  =   $82.19 (per day)
Divide that by

Gross Profit Per Sale $22.00 (assuming my product will give me $22.00 of profit per sale)
X
Visitor to Sale Conversion Ratio of .01 (assuming a 1% conversion ratio of visitors to purchasers)  = .22

So here’s the numbers,  $89.19 / .22 = 374.

So if I want to make $30,000.00 per year from the product I’m selling for $47.00 (making a $22.00 profit per sale), the math says I will need 374 unique visitors per day to reach that. Having this information in my “tool box”, I can then work headlines, copy, SEO and any other traffic generating strategy to get the required traffic to my sales web site.

Remember ”unique visitors” is not “Hits” on your web site, nor is it “page views” on your web site. This means you need to have a good way to track your web site traffic-duh?
